Carnegie Institution of Washington

Carnegie Institution of Washington at the Carnegie Institution for Science
Avenue of the Presidents within view of the White House - Scott Circle at Massachusetts Avenue

Andrew Carnegie founded the Carnegie Institution of Washington in 1902 as an organization for scientific discovery. His intention was for the institution to be home to exceptional individuals – men and women with imagination and extraordinary dedication capable of working at the cutting edge of their fields. In that tradition, this dramatic and historic facility offers multiple options for a range of event types and multiple uses utilizing diverse function spaces.

A beautiful and classically appointed Auditorium space accommodates an audience of up to 400 and is ideal for conference presentations, film screenings, awards ceremonies, meetings and seminars providing both a built-in stage and a full range of state-of-the-art audio-visual capabilities and technical support available at modest price. Adjacent to the Auditorium exterior foyer is an elegant Ballroom function space featuring a separate and exquisite three-level domed marble Rotunda with optional use of an exterior Portico atop the steps of the original formal entrance to this historic limestone edifice within view of the White House. The venue also offers both a classic antique furnished Board Room and a traditionally appointed Library available for smaller executive-style meeting events and separate conference gatherings. In addition to the Auditorium, the venue accommodates 25 to 350 guests in a range of available and versatile environments and site set-ups.

This landmark event destination has been host to a wide range of conference and meeting events, special presentations and functions, and both memorable cocktail receptions and elegant full-service seated dinner functions.

Few venues in the nation’s capital are as versatile in event space accommodation and facility set-up arrangement, and this unique event placement location has time and again proffered a memorable and functional solution for a wide range of events.
